in-memory and on-disk support?

I've had a quick read through the features/FAQ and haven't been able to find a clear answer. I'm looking at replacing a setup of H2 where I have 40GB in-memory backed by 800GB on-disk, the 40GB in memory represents the first 40GB of the 800GB on-disk for super-fast recent entry searching, the records at the end continuously purge as the new ones come in(duplicate write, one to in-memory and one to on-disk). ... records as new ones come in would it be more optimal to set the <size> element as follows: <size initial="800000mb" ... It will only help query performance. Purging old data will have to be done by your application. ...

significant performance decrease

we are using objected in embedded mode (on OS X and WINDOWS). The database increased now to around 400000 entities of one class (database file size around 1.5 GByte). The response time of standard queries increased with this database size to an unacceptable rate (several seconds compared to around 30% when the number of entities was just half of the current). We tried to optimize the cache settings, current objectdb.conf is: <!-- ObjectDB Configuration --> <objectdb> ... port = "6136" max = "100" /> <data path = "$objectdb/db" /> <!-- <replication ...

Sort of very large objects - out of memory

The attached test is failing with an out of memory exception when running with -Xmx512m It performs the following actions: 1) Create 5 persist threads which create and persist a large object in a loop 100 times each 2) Create 5 get threads which read 100 objects each in a loop based on object creation time and priority The message size should be around 1mb so I think there should be around 11mb of "live" data in play at any time. Corrupted Database or error in ObjectDBExplorer?

Hello, we have problems when we open our Database file with the ObjectDB-Explorer (2.6.8_b8). Can you analyze the problem and tell us if its a problem of the explorer or a real problem in the Database-File? Changes in detach behaviour?

Hello! Today i upgraded to 2.3.5_04. My program stopped working. After some debugging i found out that all fields of retrieved objects are on their default value till i first call a getter or detach them explicitly. Up to 2.3.4 they where initialized immediately. The problem in my case is that i have a Spring DAO. It does the following: I call for example getUserByName("blub). ... But you shouldn't expect em.close() to populate data. Only data that was already populated before close will be available after ...

Groovy JPA example

I've been using Groovy with ObjectDb, just thought I'd post a short snippet to show how easy this is to do.
