Hi, Something is wrong with ODB maven repository. I was trying to update / resolve dependency for new ODB build and m2.objectdb.com seems to be down. Can you check this please? ObjectDb.conf Defaults

Is it expected that all objectdb.conf entries are optional and when they are not provided defaults are used?  It appears that that is the case for all documented entries, except for 4 entries under "General". ... / > -- > < !-- ok if missing <url - history size = "0" user = "false" password = "false" ...

Is 2 level cache in use?

Hi, Is there any way to check, if 2 level cache is in use? Right now I've done two things: 1. objectdb.conf with cache size is placed in WEB-INF directory of my web application. 2. persistence.xml was modified with: ... same amount of CPU and memory. objectdb.home for client/server

Currently, we do need to manually setup the objectdb.home property eventhough we're working on client/server mode. However, without setting this in our client, he complains about the missing objectdb.conf. Why is this required? Can't the server deliver it? Most of the time we do not even know where our object db home is located at as we might have multiple server instances running on multiple machines so all we do really need to supply should be the server connection url and no objectdb.home..   Alex ... do really need to supply should be the server connection url and no objectdb.home..   Alex ...

Using a file extension other than .odb

I love that ObjectDB's implementation of Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(...) treats a parameter ending in .odb as a file name rather than a persistence unit name.  It makes opening a DB in my app as easy as selecting it from a file chooser. However, I wish that I could use a file extension other than odb.  Since this functionality is already non-standard, why not allow it?  Perhaps any string beginning with "file://" could be treated this way. ... version 2.2.9 you can use other extensions, as long as the url starts with objectdb: For example: ...

Deadlock problems solved - a suggestion

Thanks to the new logging capability, I have managed to solve all the deadlock problems, as they were a result of Objectdb encountering new classes in multi-threaded code.  I have a suggestion that might be useful for other users - how about an Ant task that, given a database URL, performs the necessary schema changes (including creating the database if necessary), so that a database is already set up with the complete schema before an application runs?... other users - how about an Ant task that, given a database URL, performs the necessary schema changes (including creating the database if ...

Does ObjectDB support @Parent for @Embeddable reference to parent?

AFAIK JPA does not directly support an @Embeddable referencing the parent in which it is @Embedded. But Hibernate has a special @Parent for it (see Entity extensions 2.4.3.4.@Parent). @Entity public class Person { @Embeddable public Address address; ... } @Embeddable public class Address { @Parent public Person owner; ... } Is there a safe and recommended way of achieving this in ObjectDB ? ... { .. }   setURL ( String url ) { if ( user. active ( ) ...
