Activation Issue

Hi, We bought a site license the yesterday. I ran the activation class this morning. That generated the activation key. I took that key as per the instructions, added it to the objectdb.conf inside the jar, and everything was happy. (this was with 2.3.7). However after a reboot I'm now getting the evaluation license restriction message again at compile time (which was I was seeing before putting the activation key in objectdb.conf). I tried upgrading to 2.3.7_02 and updating objectdb.conf with the activation key, but get the same behaviour. ... sync = "false" path = "." mode = "write" /> <locking version-check = "true" /> ...

Server vs embedded mode in multi-instance scenario

We are creating a web app that will have multiple different clients, each on their own EC2 instance(s). The clients do not need to share any data, so each could have its own ObjectDB. Clients have a user base of about 2,000 to 60,000 users that could possibly be using their application at any given time (100k absolute maximum). We will probably have multiple instances per client for availability concerns as well as auto scale during peak usage, at least for the benefit of our web application if not for objectdb. #1 2013-01-18 22:18 We are creating a web app that will have multiple different clients, each on their own EC2 instance(s). Data portability

Hi,   I've never used an OODB, I'm looking for a starting point but a recurrent concern is the Data Portability one. More clear: what options / strategies do I have to export / move my data to another  tool, if there is a need to? #1 2010-12-01 18:29 Hi, I've never used an OODB, I'm looking for a starting point but a recurrent concern is the Data Portabi ...

Vacuum - Reclaiming Unused Space In Odb

I was curious if you could assist me with a challenge we are having with our objectdb database.  Our odb files are about 50Gb in size and are written to about a million times a day with both adds and updates.  This is creating a lot of unused space in the database that we are wanting to reclaim.  Other database vendors provide a vacuum process to allow dumping a database to a flat file (basically a sql dump) and reload.  Is there a capability in ObjectDb to provide a vacuum?  The online backup feature appears to copy the dead space as well so isn't performing... other than manually implementing code to read, delete, and write to a new odb, is there an algorithim that you could provide that plays to ...

UPDATE query to set a new field after schema change

I've added a new property/field to one of my objects and want to set the value of this (boolean) property to false for all existing entities in the DB. I tried to execute an update statement with the Explorer tool. The statement ends and tells me that 1000 entities have been updated. I then save the changes to the DB via file->save. But when I execute a select on the DB I see that the field is still "null" for all instances. How do I initialize the field? ... be fixed in future versions. The workaround is to write some code (even in a simple console application) that update the objects ...
