Sample JDO Architecture for Follow Up Questions

Server crash - Mismatch client-server protocol prefix

We've been having a problem where our ObjectDB server goes unresponsive every 2 days or so.  I've reviewed the server-side logs, and there are no events logged shortly before the crash.  Once the server gets in this state, it is unresponsive to bin/server.sh restart; I have had to reboot the entire server on which it's running.  The only recorded symptom is a client-side error (which fortunately gets auto-mailed to me): ... which was also flagged when I ran the database doctor on a backup of the production database.  I will be taking the production site ...

Replicated cluster recovery

If I create a replicated database cluster as per http://www.objectdb.com/java/jpa/tool/replication what is the behaviour of the master database after a failure? For example, say I have MasterDB and SlaveDB in the cluster. If MasterDB goes offline the application will automatically switch to SlaveDB. When MasterDB comes back online it will have missed any activity that occured during the downtime. ... Switching is automatic - between a main url and backup urls, which may also reference databases on different nodes. ...

Explorer in 2.3

First, the new Explorer in ObjectDB is fantastic! This is exactly what we've needed - an easy way to do ad-hoc JPQL queries and navigate through the results and even make small changes to primitive data and Strings. After playing with it for a while, here is a list of additional features I'd love to have: 1. Export of selected data: a. Simple - Select a range of cells or a column header and copy text to the clipboard or save to a file (csv, html, etc..). (There appear to be copy menu options, but I cannot get them to work.) ... or all. c. Buttons to restart database, hot backup (remote server to local HD), etc... 5. Evaluation of expressions ...

Hello! In some older post "support" wrote: "A single server license is for one activation of one machine and is non transferable.". What if one of our servers or laptops needs to get replaced? SelfTest and com.objectdb.Doctor

Dear Objectdb-Team We're really pleased with objectdb. Nevertheless we would like to ask for an 'extra' feature. The class 'com.objectdb.Doctor' enables a self-test for a given Database. We would like to make a self-test before every start of the database (i.e. the server). In case of fails or errors we would like to repair the database and/or inform the customer. ... using an API that is similar to the current online backup (i.e. by running a special query against the database). ...

Safe Settings

Hi, I am trying to set up ObjectDb in a safe way that allows turning the machine off while database transactions are running. I would like to test if things are really safe and if I don't get corrupted database files in any possible case. I found "recovery" and "recording" in the objectdb.conf file.
