LAZY @ManyToOne field functions as EAGER

In the code example below (also attached) I would like to understand why I am able to print to console a lazy @ManyToOne field after the entity manager closes. There is a switch DO_VIEW_BEFORE_CLOSE, and when it is true the fields are accessed and output before the finding entity manager closes and as expected both a LAZY @ManyToOne field and an EAGER @ManyToOne field are viewable: b.cLazy:{C}[2]"cLazy"
 b.cEager:{C}[3]"cEager" ... [ ] args ) { String $connection = "objectdb:db/TestLazyManyToOne.tmp;drop" ; ... Persistence . createEntityManagerFactory ( $connection ) ;   EntityManager em = emf. ...

Performance tuning, best practices

we have a system where we serve from a host process around 200 clients connected via webSockets (Jetty). The core process is running on a dedicated Windows 2012 server with 16 GByte RAM and 8 processor cores.  What is strange for us is that max 20% of the cpu resources are used and the IO subsystem is at maximum 30% of activity under heavy load but database queries are let's say not at the speed we would expect. We have currently 20.000.000 objects in the database, our configuration settings are: ... </schema> <server>   <connection port="6136" max="100" />   <data path="$objectdb/db" ...

Bulk Delete and Update - best practice?

The attached test creates 1000 large objects and then attempts to delete them all in one go using a DELETE statement. I'm trying to run with -Xmx512m but the test runs out of memory during the delete. The attachment also contains an update test which has similar memory problems. I'm running both tests with the default objectdb.conf. In general is an UPDATE/DELETE statement the most efficient way to update/remove a large number of objects? ...
