Caching/Paging Questions...

Greetings ObjectDB team, All below questions assume a very large database (~1,000,000,000 objects): Q1: Two queries with a big overlap between their result sets. If I query the first set and hold the results in memory somehow, would that speed up the execution of the second query since many of its result objects already created and reside in memory ? #1 2011-01-02 04:12 Greetings ObjectDB team, All below questions assume a very large database (~1,000,000,000 objects): Q1: ...

Optimization Question

One of our uses for your ObjectDB software is in maintaining the current state of a large number of data objects called tracks. These tracks change very frequently over time (every 10-15 seconds is not unreasonable), but they are also very large complex data structures so it's extremely difficult to identify exactly what fields have changed from one update to the next. Currently the following sequence executes when a track update comes in: - If it’s a new track simply add it to the database. #1 2010-06-16 15:41 One of our uses for your ObjectDB software is in maintaining the current state of a large number of data objects cal ...

UserException: Package com.example.model is not found by the enhancer

My program works fine when I run it from Netbeans but as soon as I clean and build and move the dist directory out of the project to a remote location and run it using java -jar example.jar then I get the exception: com.objectdb.o.UserException: Package com.example.model is not found by the enhancer It occurs on this line: com.objectdb.Enhancer.enhance("com.example.model" + ".*"); #1 2014-06-15 12:19 My program works fine when I run it from Netbeans but as soon as I clean and build and move the dist directory ou ...

A few questions on object database design

I've been trying to model a database that stores data in an MMORPG. With ObjectDB, a lot of things are easier to perform. Intuitively, I created an entity class called player and stored everything about the player as embeddable classes. However, my colleague questions about this structure, since we would be looking at persisting data from the server every minute or two per player. He has stability issues with the ObjectDB if we are accessing the same table all the time. #1 2014-06-18 11:33 I've been trying to model a database that stores data in an MMORPG. Understanding limitations of schema evolution

Hi, I am trying to understand the limitations of schema evolution and have read the material on http://www.objectdb.com/java/jpa/entity/schema as well as the link therein regarding manual schema update when changing a field’s name Yet, i am confused regarding how to handle the case where one re-factors a class by moving one if it's Fields to a different class. Is this case managable? Thanks #1 2014-10-31 12:31 Hi, I am trying to understand the limitations of schema evolution and have read the material on http://www.objectdb.c ...

Finance data from SQL Server into ObjectDB daily

Hello -   I think ObjectDB might be just the solution for our current project but I would like some feedback from the community to see if I'm thinking about it right.   We have a finance data mart that is appended to daily via an SSIS package. I would like to pull the data from SQL, add it to a bean and store it in the ObjectDB. This would all happen in an automated fashion. Does this make sense? Is there a way to map the structure of the table directly into ObjectDB from SQL Server?   #1 2011-07-23 20:43 Hello -   I think ObjectDB might be just the solution for our current project but I would li ...

Objectdb recovery

Hello, I have question regarding objectdb recovery when objectdb is not finished correctly (power outage). We are using following configuration: <recovery enabled="true" sync="false" path="." max="128mb"/> <recording enabled="false" sync="false" path="." mode="write"/> Is there any possibility of data loss when power outage? #1 2014-09-16 07:16 Hello, I have question regarding objectdb recovery when objectdb is not finished correctly (power outage) ...
