Degrading performance overtime

hi, We have an application that uses embedded odb database. We have configured odb to start at 50meg chunks and grow at 50 megs a time. as the files become larger between 1 and 2 gigs we start to see considerable degrade in performance caused internal objectdb locking: ... >   <entities > <enhancement agent = "false" reflection = "warning" /> ...

Concerning coding style of the example in the posting instructions

(This forum item was spawned from discussions in a private helpdesk ticket.) I write with reference to the coding example in the posting instructions and many of your other examples posted in the forums. While I appreciate the recommended coding style as shown makes for convenient minimal examples and test cases,  I contest that it breaks the rules for JPA2 entities on at least 2 counts. Firstly, the posting instructions state:  ... your second point, properties can be used and when using enhancement by a Java Agent even must be used, since ObjectDB may fail to ...

Connection is closed Caused by: java.io.EOFException

I am getting this exception on a regular basis, after a period of time of repeating the same code execution.  I don't understand why.  I restart the DB server and my code works again for another period of time until same exception is encountered again.  I cannot pin down a pattern e.g. after a certain period of time,  because the time  periods between exceptions are not regular, although frequent.  Any test case  I use will pass most of the time but will fail after an undetermined period. ... >   <entities > <enhancement agent = "false" reflection = "warning" /> ...

turn off auto-serialization

Hi    As far as I understand if you have a classe that implements Serializable and is referenced by an Entity it will be automatically stored using standard serialization mechanizm.  Is there any option to turn off that feature so that if an un-enhanced (Serializable) class is referenced an error will be printed ??   Thanks in advance b #1 2011-08-08 12:33 Hi    As far as I understand if you have a classe that implements Serializable and is r ...

Speed of queries that return many objects

Hi, I have a DB of 146MB - with 1_000_000 elements. Loading the contents (objectDB query in java) takes about 10sec. I am using a recent MacBook (SSD blabla - disk I/O speed is about 400MB/sec - according to blackMagicTest app for mac) - so I was expecting the query to take less than one sec (146/400 = 0.35sec.. + some overhead). I was wondering if this kind of speed is "normal", or if this is something I should investigate. Thanks EKK ... for this test case seems to be normal, although with enhancement and tuning it could be in the range of 1-2 seconds. The ...

JDO sequences from ORM file

I want to use sequences in JDO without using annotations. Normally this is done with a package-X.orm file, where X is a value passed to the PersistenceManagerFactory as the value of property "mapping". I'm encouraged to see that the JDO zip that comes with ObjectDB includes the DTD/XSD for this type of file, though I can't see a mention of it in the manual. #1 2013-03-12 17:07 I want to use sequences in JDO without using annotations.
