Upgrade to Java 8 won't run

I've been using ObjectDB with Groovy 2.1 and Java 7 for nearly a year.  Today, I updated everything to the latest revs (Groovy 2.3.6, Java 1.8.0_25, and ObjectDB 2.5.7_05), and now my application fails when opening the database. It's dying on one of these lines:   emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory (dbName)   em = emf.createEntityManager()   em.setFlushMode(FlushModeType.AUTO)   ObjectDB.em = em   ... the objectdb-2.5.4_04 or objectdb-2.5.7_05 explorer.  The only thing that seems to make sense is that Java 8 is the ...

JDO sequences from ORM file

I want to use sequences in JDO without using annotations. Normally this is done with a package-X.orm file, where X is a value passed to the PersistenceManagerFactory as the value of property "mapping". I'm encouraged to see that the JDO zip that comes with ObjectDB includes the DTD/XSD for this type of file, though I can't see a mention of it in the manual. #1 2013-03-12 17:07 I want to use sequences in JDO without using annotations. Indexes broken after schema update

I don't want to keep creating these issues but the Exception tells me to :), I started a thread to see if anyone else has encountered this at http://www.objectdb.com/database/forum/484 ... up the same file and tested that I can open this with the explorer locally. Please try again. ...

Java 6/7 Performance Comparison

Hey, I've been using ObjectDB for a small scale home project to gain some familiarity before proposing it in a commercial project at work. What I've noticed though is that when using objectdb in embedded mode based on the console tutorial, there seems to be a bit of a performance gap running the same code between Java 6 & 7 Tracing it through I can see the bottle neck seems to be at the creation of the entity manager and I was wondering if there are any additional configuration options I may have missed while running under java 7. ... but suspect the same issue occurs when running ObjectDB Explorer as there is roughly a 30 second delay each time I open the jar/switch ...

File lock exception on odb$

Not sure if this is an objectdb issue or not but I thought I'd raise it just in case. We had a server failure which caused an unexpected reboot. As a result, the application services which use objectdb were not shutdown properly which in turn meant we had several odb$ files left behind. I had assumed that objectdb would reprocess these when the services restarted but instead we got the exception below. ... When I copy them locally and try to open using objectdb explorer I continue to get the same problem. I've tried to upload ...

Issue with DISTINCT Select

It is getting more and more frustrating :( We've introduced distinct select instead of regular selection in our code (no changes else) and suddenly receive invalid identifiers in queries exceptions in various queries. Here's the stacktrace: ... the TYPE($1)..() check as this causes more issues in explorer because the generated code from criteriaquery is NOT valid JPQL) -> ...

OutOfMemoryError on search after update on DB created with DB Doctor

It looks like there may be an issue with the DB files created with DB Doctor in recovery mode. This is the scenario that results in the OutOfMemory exception problem (using Object DB 2.5.4_04): 1. We instruct Object DB to create a 1Gb DB file on initial start-up using: <database> <size initial="1024mb" resize="256mb" page="2kb" /> This happens as expected. #1 2014-03-11 01:36 It looks like there may be an issue with the DB files created with DB Doctor in recovery mode. Updating existing persistence entries

I have stored some instances of MyObject via em.persist(myObjectInstance); I can fetch them and bind them to a kind of property editor in my app (it simply calls the setters to reflect gui editing actions). When I try to persist a object later on, I get an error like com.objectdb.o.UserException: Attempt to reuse an existing primary key value which makes sense to me but I'm missing a em.update() method. ... objects and merge is not required. This is how ObjectDB Explorer (which is also a GUI object editor) works. ...
