JPA Persistence Unit

Explains how to define a JPA persistence unit in the persistence.xml file. A JPA Persistence Unit is a logical grouping of user defined persistable classes (entity classes, embeddable classes and mapped superclasses) with related settings. Defining a persistence unit is optional when using ObjectDB, but required by JPA. ...

ObjectDB eclipse plugin

Hello, Creating an eclipse plugin from the downloadable objectdb.jar file DOES NOT work in the eclipse OSGi environment (at least that is my experience). Could we have a genuine eclipse plugin from ObjectDB that works? You already have a pluging that integrates Objectdb with BIRT, so it seems it should not be difficult. The downloads could now have both the eclipse plugin as well as the usual jar. Let me know what you think.   Thanks #1 2011-07-14 18:30 Hello, Creating an eclipse plugin from the downloadable objectdb.jar file DOES NOT work in the eclipse OS ...

Database File Compression

ObjectDB database files are usually smaller than database files of other Database Management Systems (object and Relational) but still, an additional internal compression is possible. Usually smaller files are also faster because less I/O operations are required and memory cache can be used more efficiently. But compression and decompression consumes CPU time. Therefore, the effect of compression on Object databases is currently unknown. Feature Request Version: Priority: Normal Status: Active Replies: 0 Type:  Feature Request ...

Recovery file does not match db file

Just rebooted my production server, which had been running fine for months. When it came up, these errors started: ObjectDB 2.3.1_03] javax.persistence.PersistenceException Recovery file '/auctionologies/java/storage.odb$' does not match db file '/auctionologies/java/storage.odb' (error 145) at com.objectdb.jpa.EMF.createEntityManager(EMF.java:176) at javax.persistence.EntityManagerFactory$createEntityManager.call(Unknown Source) Note: other than reboot the machine, I didn't do anything else. #1 2012-09-25 11:43 Just rebooted my production server, which had been running fine for months. Problems down-casting in WHERE clause

I have a family of related types, like this: @Entity class Base { String val1; String val2; }; @Entity class Derived1 extends Base { String val3; }; @Entity class Derived2 extends Base { String val4; };  I'm trying to implement a query which will return all Base objects which have a given string within any of their String-typed fields.  The query I'm using looks somewhat like this: #1 2013-07-07 03:04 I have a family of related types, like this: @ Entity class Base { String val1 ...

Navigation through Path to evaluate collection

Hello, I need to evaluate a field ("identifier") which is situated in a collection, within an entity. As stated in the documentation it is not possible to navigate there with the dot operator since its a collection. Is it there a way to evaluate this field? Here is the query, the entity and the related embeddable class. Thanks #1 2016-09-04 09:17 Hello, I need to evaluate a field ("identifier") which is situated in a collection, within an entity. Roadmap - no progress - any plans - transparency?

Hi! I have been using ObjectDB for some time, and I'm relatively glad about it. What I'm not so satisfied is that there is no road map for ObjectDB. We see bug fixes and minor adjustments, which is great, but there's nothing about the future. We need to know in which direction ObjectDB is heading, and if it's heading anywhere or just staying in this state forever, as I see it. It would be nice to have more transparency about this topic. I know there are feature requests already made, but they seem to be ignored. #1 2014-05-11 19:51 Hi! I have been using ObjectDB for some time, and I'm relatively glad about it. What I'm ...
