Working with JPA Entity Objects

Explains the entity object lifecycle and the persistence context. Entity objects are in-memory instances of entity classes (persistable user defined classes), which can represent physical objects in the database. Managing an ObjectDB Object Database using JPA requires using entity objects for many oper ...

Issue with compile time enhancement

I have an entity library which I have integrated build time enhancement in.  The enhancer reports it has processed all of my persistent classes.  When I attempt to run a Bootstrap process with this library I get the error shown below.  The entity referenced in the error (Terms) is listed as having been enhanced. I am running with ObjectDB in embedded mode via a reference to a persistence unit also shown below. Please let me know if you need any additional information to diagnose this problem. Thanks, Joel #1 2012-07-08 17:25 I have an entity library which I have integrated build time enhancement in.  The enhancer reports it has pro ...

Vacuum - Reclaiming Unused Space In Odb

I was curious if you could assist me with a challenge we are having with our objectdb database.  Our odb files are about 50Gb in size and are written to about a million times a day with both adds and updates.  This is creating a lot of unused space in the database that we are wanting to reclaim.  Other database vendors provide a vacuum process to allow dumping a database to a flat file (basically a sql dump) and reload.  Is there a capability in ObjectDb to provide a vacuum?  The online backup feature appears to copy the dead space as well so isn't performing... a couple times on some larger database we have.  The results were somewhat surprising.  Neither execution of Doctor found any ...

Opensource ObjectDB

I know you have answered this question some years ago, but I think about the databases that have recently "triumphed" like MySQL, MongoDB or SQLite and they are free databases. Also in the Java world we have the example of Hibernate (ORM) and Apache Hadoop (framework for Big Data). ... is a difficult question. No one can know in advance the results of open sourcing a commercial project. Success stories (as you ...

Query on Embedded Primary Key?

Hi, I am trying to use Embedded Primary Key - but seems I can't retrieve them correctly with the query below - the query seem to work fine for other field (in the code = primkeycopy). The error I get when is below - it complains about a casting issue. Let me know how to fix it - Thanks  EKK   #1 2014-06-16 22:50 Hi, I am trying to use Embedded Primary Key - but seems I can't retrieve them correctly with the ...

Possible issue with LAZY Loading

Hi, We need lazy loading for one of our large data sets. When I run currently against both 2.4.2 and 2.4.3_01 the db is always returning everything, including the data marked as Fetch.LAZY.  I wrote the attached unit test, and then found this: http://www.objectdb.com/database/forum/9 As far as I can tell, my unit test is pretty much identical. Not sure why this doesn't work. Thanks Paul. ... differences) when the EntityManager is closed or results are detached. In this case, LAZY data will not be available and will ...

how explorer queries work

i'm curious as to how the explorer is able to execute queries when its obviously not aware of the object model that i built. the reason is because i have an application where i want to be able to execute somewhat generalized queries and i won't know what classes are in the object model ahead of time. this is especially curious to me in client-server mode since the .jar with the object model classes is on the server side, not the client side where explorer is running. #1 2012-05-02 16:09 i'm curious as to how the explorer is able to execute queries when its obviously not aware of the object mode ...
