internal object DB locking in an embedded multi threaded application

Hi, we are using Embeded objectDB 2.4.4_06 in a highly multithreaded concurrent manner and we have noticed a performance problem in our application that seems to be attributed to ObjectDb's internal locking. When profiling our app in JVisualVm we notice a large number of threads are blocked and when doing a threaddump we notice that they are all blocked in the same place: ...  this seems to take a considerable lenght of time ( approx 4-10 seconds). do you have any suggestions as to how we can ... 100 and 500 meg when this occurs. NullPointerException in __odbGetNumMember

Hi,   hi, When deleting an entity "Mitglied" -> everything works fine. Trying to delete another one (in a separate transaction) always causes a NullPointer Exception in __odbGetNumMember line 1 of the enhanced Mitglied class. I am unable to replicate it in a simple testcase but it always happens in our implementation. I am posting the stack trace in the hope that it'll help to figure what's going wrong: ... of the same class type.. the one that works at the first time but fails the second time and works third time again so I would doubt that it has to do with ...

Recommendation - concurrent access multiple class v

Hi! I've just started to architect a new system, stateless JSON API, which is expected to have very high load and to require more servers for parallel deployments (same app across multiple servers). I am considering using ObjectDB, because of its advantages and easy usage, but I'm afraid that it might get corrupted because the manual says that we must not access ObjectDB with different versions of a class. Let's take the following scenario: ... --- I can't update all 5 of them in the same time, because it must be no downtime for the current system. ... can switch to one active application server for a short time when there is a low load, you can restart that application server, and ...

Activated ObjectDB still throws "Too many persistable types"

I have upgraded from 2.3.7 to 2.4.4 and now my activation won't work, throwing the dreaded com.objectdb.o.UserException: Too many persistable types (>10) - exceeds evaluation limit I have already reactivated and checked that my objectdb.conf is correctly used (by inserting random chars at the beginning of the file, which lead to an error). Yet I still get the error thrown. Nothing in my configuration changed except the version. Which storage fits best to ObjectDB?

Hi, we are just about to put together a new server for our applications using ObjectDB (v 2.6). We have a dilemma about the storage holding the ObjectDB files: if to invest in a mirrored RAID of SSDs which is clearly the ultimate solution but it quite pricey, or to choose a RAID5/6 of 7200 RPM HDDs. ... would mean then r/w of small data more often, so the seek-time is the most crucial and not the transfer-rate) ? ... to be faster, since it significantly reduces the seek time. ODB should auto-restart if it detects it's necessary

Hi! I find very tricky the need to restart ObjectDB server after schema modifications in a distributed environment. Moreover, not doing it does sometimes trigger ugly errors, which mean application downtime. It might be very useful to have an additional feature (that could be enabled/disabled in objectdb.config) that each time ObjectDB detects a schema change that requires restart, it should automatically restart itself. This way we save a lot of headaches from our dev. ops. Currently we have to manually do: ... could be enabled/disabled in objectdb.config) that each time ObjectDB detects a schema change that requires restart, it should ... which gave us a lot of problems and needed a lot of time for debugging and fixing).
