ODB should auto-restart if it detects it's necessary

Hi! I find very tricky the need to restart ObjectDB server after schema modifications in a distributed environment. Moreover, not doing it does sometimes trigger ugly errors, which mean application downtime. It might be very useful to have an additional feature (that could be enabled/disabled in objectdb.config) that each time ObjectDB detects a schema change that requires restart, it should automatically restart itself. This way we save a lot of headaches from our dev. ops. Currently we have to manually do: ... in the short term. In the long term the entire ObjectDB type system is expected to be rewritten to be more dynamic, and then schema ...

InternalException during producer/consumer scenario

Hi, I'm trying to use objectdb in a producer/consumer scenario. Producer threads put message objects into a table while consumer threads remove the objects based on age, priority, etc. There are 2 main motivations for using objectdb for this purpose rather than a queue or similar data structure: 1) The consumer can select the "next" object based on a range of potentially complex criteria. 2) The number of objects produced can be potentially exceed available memory so can be held on disk within the objectdb file. ... Performance problem

Hi, we have a strange performance problem with ObjectDB 2.5.3_01 and JBoss 7.1.1. We have two ObjectDB databases on one ObjectDB server. Production database is running 5-10 times slower than test database. Their size and number of records are almost identical. When running production database in separate test environment its speed is very good. We did a performance analysis on our 2 linux servers one running JBOSS and other running ObjectDB. - CPU utilization of JBOSS server is max 5-10% (per core)... class (5-10) that store info about Organization, Employee type, permissions (we use Appache Shiro and permission data are stored in ...

how explorer queries work

i'm curious as to how the explorer is able to execute queries when its obviously not aware of the object model that i built. the reason is because i have an application where i want to be able to execute somewhat generalized queries and i won't know what classes are in the object model ahead of time. this is especially curious to me in client-server mode since the .jar with the object model classes is on the server side, not the client side where explorer is running. #1 2012-05-02 16:09 i'm curious as to how the explorer is able to execute queries when its obviously not aware of the object mode ...

Empty temporary dat files in the temp folder

Hello, We have questions regarding the pagesX.dat files in the temp directory. Eager load Map

I'm having an issue eager loading a nested map. I've attached @ManyToMany(fetch=FetchType.EAGER) attributes to no avail. If the map is viewed in the debugger or force iterated in the code it loads ok. The attached code attempts to replicate the scenario. Its not an exact match but is the best I could come up with without replicating the whole system. The test creates an object, persists it to a db and re-loads it. The EntityManager is closed before accesing any fields. Finally the nested map is accessed and printed to screen. ... Type:  Bug ... should be posted as attachments .
